Delete your account

This removes your Black Book account and everything personal in it. There are two ways to do it — the first is instant and entirely in your hands.

If you still have the app

This is the quickest route and needs nothing from us:

If you've already uninstalled it

Email privacy@blackbook.pub from the address you signed up with, with the subject Delete my account.

We ask you to send it from that address because it's how we confirm the request is really yours — we will not delete an account on the say-so of someone who cannot prove they own it. Requests are actioned within 30 days.

There's a 30-day grace period

Your account is locked straight away, then permanently erased 30 days later. Signing back in during those 30 days cancels the deletion and restores your journal exactly as it was. This exists so one mis-tap cannot destroy years of entries. After 30 days it cannot be undone by anyone, including us.

What gets deleted

What stays, and why

Pubs you added to Black Book remain, with your name removed from them. A pub is shared reference information — other people's journals point at it, and their records would be damaged if it vanished. Once your name is detached, nothing about it is personal to you.

The scores you gave also remain, stripped of everything that identified them. What is left is a pub, a number and a date — nothing connecting it to you, and nothing connecting those entries to one another. They keep counting toward that pub's average rating, which is all they are used for. Your notes, photos, history and stamps are gone, and so is the fact that any of it was yours.
